Synopsis
Football is everything, but love is the only game that matters.
Quinn
No one is more surprised than me that Leo Taylor, the most promising--and maybe the hottest--tight-end in college football today, is my boyfriend. Again.
Sounds perfect, doesn't? I should feel like I’m living a dream. But our long-distance relationship isn't easy, and sometimes I’m afraid football will always come first in Leo’s heart.
Maybe that's why when my friend Nate needs me in a way Leo never has, I make a decision that could destroy us forever.
Leo
I thought once Quinn was mine again, everything would be easy. Instead, we’re living a rollercoaster of uncertainty, complete with breathtaking highs and lows that threaten to break my heart.
When I’m playing football, I never give up. But when it comes to Quinn and me, I’m starting to think that winning might not be an option.
Review
The book flows so smoothly and doesn't linger anywhere it's not need to. The progress through college for Nate, Quinn & Leo is to the point to some degree. As Leo's fame heightens, it puts pressure on Quinn and although you can feel their love you also understand their decisions to take a breather.
The Grim Reaper is busy in this book which I guess is good, in theory because it makes the book more ralistic and not some fairytale novel. These three are genuinely experiencing life as is.
After Leo and Quinn decide to take a break thanks to his popularity and the abuse Quinn receives due to the Lionesses life is good considering because we know that for those two it's only each other.
But when Nate's health takes a massive dip, they start to date. No sex, just the basics. And then his life expectancy is beginning to draw near and Quinn and Nate get married as a last dying wish.
This breaks me for so many reasons. Nate knows there is only Leo and Quinn but he wants to experience something he could never have and never would have. A life with Quinn and a real marriage.
I get that. I get he want's that moment.
But at the same time, knowing that Quinn loves Leo and that Leo and Quinn are going to be in so much emotional pain because of it is selfish and it truely is.
How Quinn does it and how Leo can allow it i'll never know. I can't imagine being that un-selfish.
